I wasn’t sure how much my 10-year-old would connect with war stories, but this audiobook surprised both of us. She asked thoughtful questions afterward and even talked about it during dinner. It gave her a glimpse into bravery that felt relatable. I appreciated how it made tough topics accessible without dumbing anything down

my daughter asked to hear it again

I picked this book to listen to with my son during our evening quiet time. I wanted him to learn about history in a way that felt real and personal. The stories were short, easy to understand, and full of bravery and kindness. I could tell he was really listening, asking questions, and even feeling proud of the young heroes in the book.

There was one story about a girl who helped her neighbors during a bombing that really stayed with us. My son said he would’ve been scared, and I told him it’s okay to be scared and brave at the same time. That led to a long, meaningful talk between us. It made me feel like this book gave us more than just facts—it gave us a shared experience.

I listened to this book with my son during a rainy weekend and we both got pulled into the stories right away. The way it shared real moments of bravery and kindness during such a hard time was easy to follow and really powerful. It didn’t feel too heavy for kids but still showed how strong and caring people can be. My son asked a lot of questions after and we had some good talks about courage and helping others.

One story about a young person helping their neighbors during the war really stayed with me. It reminded me of how my grandma used to tell me about sharing food with others during hard times. That memory came back so clearly while we listened. It was special to share that moment with my son and see him connect with something so important through these stories.

The writing is easy for young listeners to follow, yet rich in detail and meaning. My kid enjoyed it—and so did I!

This audiobook, World War 2 Stories for Kids, isn't one of those snooze-fest history lessons; it tells these absolutely gripping true tales about brave soldiers, clever spies, and even heroic animals, making the whole thing feel really alive and, honestly, much easier for a ten-year-old to connect with. It ditches the dry facts for actual human experiences. My niece was completely drawn in by the sheer grit and courage on display – it’s like adventure stories, but real! Katie Burnes, the narrator, does a fantastic job; her voice is clear and warm, making even the tougher parts understandable without being scary. I seriously think this could be a great listen for any kid to explore this important part of history in a way that feels more like story time and less like homework.

This book is a great way to presents to students and young readers the value of history. The narrator presents the information in a very clear, informative and friendly tone. The quotes used throughout the book where inspirational and directly connected to the importance of reflecting about history. The author did a great job at informing of heroes that are well know and those that are not as know but made a significant contribution to history for the better. The involvement of the Navajo co-talkers, Audie Murphy, and Irina Sendler, where only some of the stories that I found impactful, so many more are included here. I enjoyed this book as an approach to teaching history.

I wanted something meaningful for our family road trip, something more than entertainment. This did the trick. My kids (ages 8 and 12) were hooked. The way it told real stories from WWII through the eyes of kids or young people made it so accessible. It sparked questions and empathy. We paused often to talk through the situations, how people helped each other, what fear felt like, and how even one person could make a difference. It brought history alive in the best way.

I listened to this with my nephew and was impressed by how it broke down such a complex topic into engaging and age-appropriate stories. It sparked a lot of thoughtful questions and curiosity in him. The stories are short enough to keep kids’ attention but rich in real lessons about bravery and history. A great pick for any parent or teacher wanting to introduce WWII in a meaningful yet digestible way!
