About this listen

The Prometheus Initiative was to have been humanity's safety net: A secret organization to preserve the core of 21st Century Civilization in the event of global catastrophe. If necessary, to rebuild a new civilization on the ruins of the old, learning from the past and saving all that was good. Thousands of trained men and women were placed in teams, preserved in molecular stasis to survive any catastrophe, then to be awakened when they were needed. That was the plan. Then the plan went wrong. Now, over a century has passed and one lone Initiative team finds itself in the middle of a war between a last outpost of knowledge and freedom, and a tyranny based on greed and raw power that seeks to consume it. "Cobra Joe" McRadey and his Tactical team need to study the archives of the Free University of Indiana for clues as to what happened to the rest of the Initiative and it's command base, Majestic 12. But to do that, they must help the Free University rediscover and build the weapons needed to defend themselves against the Memphis Confederacy, a slave owning tyranny ruled by the First Families. For it's part, the Confederacy is uninterested in knowledge unless that knowledge adds to the power and the wealth of the Families. They see the ideals of the Free University as a threat, while it's destruction will gain them vast wealth in booty and slaves. For his part, McRadey and his team must make a bitter choice- whether to follow their original mission of finding the rest of the Initiative, or to risk their team being destroyed in the conflict- and with it, the best chance for finding and activating the rest of the lost Initiative. A mix of high- and low-tech action, intrigue, personal conflicts and explosive military action build to a conclusion where humanity chooses between a future of reconstruction and relearning, or going deeper into a dark age, made darker by the last scraps of science and technology in the service of tyranny.
