Publisher's summary

Can a grumpy former Ranger find lasting happiness in a marriage of convenience with a sunny single mom?

After losing his leg, former Army Ranger Holt Steele is building a new life and a new business with his friends. Sure, he never expected to put small-town baker on his resume, but he finds he likes the quiet, simple life. If only he didn't like the sunny single mom who works across the street—or her adorable kid—quite so much.

After escaping a controlling husband, event planner Cayla Black has one focus—growing her business and maintaining a safe, happy home for her daughter. She has no time or interest in a man. Not even one who charms her child with Disney songs and keeps turning up like a mind-reader to help without being asked.

But when her ex's conviction is overturned on a technicality, and he shows up intending to reclaim his wife and child, Holt intervenes with an outrageous lie. The only way to fix it is to make his falsehood the truth. As they struggle to convince everyone that their marriage of protection is real, these two reluctant hearts fall deeper, until the lines between the fiction and the dream begin to blur, and they have to risk it all to protect the family they didn't know they wanted.

Good as a stand-alone

I jumped right into this book without realizing it was the second one in the series, but that, in no way took away from my enjoyment of the story. It’s easy to figure out who the characters are and the events that took place in the first book. That being said this book definitely got me intrigued as to finding out more about some of the other characters so before moving onto book three I think I will go back and enjoy the first book.

Great story and narration

Having read an loved the first book in the Bad Boy Bakers series I could not wait to read Wrapped Up With A Ranger. From the first chapter Kait Nolan drew me in and I was riveted to the story she wove about former Army Ranger Holt Steele and the woman who broke through his barriers, single mum, Cayla Black and her adorable little girl, Maddie.
Wrapped Up With A Ranger ticked all the boxes for me and I am excited to see what Ms.Nolan has in store for the series.
I fell hard and fast for Holt and the fact that he sings Disney tunes with Maddie melted my heart. He is such a swoon worthy man and I really admired Cayla who is a wonderful mother and event planner.
When Cayla’s ex turns up, threatening to take Maddie from her, Holt steps in to support and protect Cayla and Maddie, which I loved. There were a number of twists and turns and their journey is rocky. Both have been badly hurt in the past and neither want to take a chance on love.
Tedy Hamilton and Amy McFadden did a wonderful job with their narration. They really brought the story to life for me.
Will they come together to protect Maddie and in doing so find the love and happiness that they deserve? You’ll have to once click to find out.

Romance, suspense and an adorable kid…

The chemistry between Holt and Cayla has been simmering for a while but he has his insecurities about his physical challenges. When Carla’s ex turns up in town, threatening her and her daughter, Holt agrees to a marriage of convenience. We all know how those turn out…great story & lovely characters make this worth your time. Can’t wait for book 3!

Truncated and sloppy storyline.

Holt and Cayla’s marriage of convenience is an entertaining romance between an event planning single mom, her precocious 5 year old daughter Maddie, and a bad boy baker whose karaoke Disney skills are beyond compare. I liked Holt’s protective nature, his past experience with parenting, and the adorable chemistry that blooms between him and Maddie. Cayla has worked tirelessly to make a home for her daughter after her painful divorce and the danger that ensues with the sudden appearance of her ex throws them all into a tailspin. I wish Holt’s military service, the loss of his leg, and his subsequent psychological trauma had been part of the story but it wasn’t included. On top of that I was disappointed that the truncated story culminated in a quick fix to Cayla’s ex’s dastardly deeds and a rushed happily ever after. The book would have been so much better if the suspense could have played out in a more realistic and detailed way. The shortcuts were problematic and ruined the impact of the story for me. Fortunately the charismatic vocal performances of Amy McFadden and Teddy Hamilton helped somewhat to soften my disappointment.
