About this listen

NO RULES. NO PROBLEM.

Bruce Lee remains the gold standard that all martial artists are compared to. But could he actually fight? World Champions in karate competition have gone on record to point out that he never once competed in tournaments. Were his martial abilities merely a trick of the camera?

For the first time ever, Bruce Lee authority and bestselling author John Little takes a hard look at Bruce Lee's real-life fights to definitively answer these questions with over thirty years of research that took him thousands of miles. Little has tracked down over thirty witnesses to the real fights of Bruce Lee as well as those who were present at his many sparring sessions (in which he was never defeated) against the very best martial artists in the world.

From the mean streets of Hong Kong, to challenge matches in Seattle and Oakland, to the sets of his iconic films where he was challenged repeatedly, this is the incredible real-life fighting record of the man known as the "Little Dragon," who may well have been the greatest fighter of the twentieth century.

During the time that this book was written, there was a lot of misinformation online and in the press about Bruce Lee and his fighting ability. There were a lot of "extras on the wall", who would listen to this misinformation and this start blabing on about what Bruce Lee could and couldn't do. What's more Tarantino did a movie that added to the misinformation with a scene in the movie "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood". It was obvious even to me that Tarantino did very little research. He was just lazy in his whole approach to adding Bruce Lee to his movie. It was actually an insult to his earlier work because he didn't consult anyone who actually knew Bruce Lee, such as his students or even his living family.

Then the Chuck Norris' and others who were on some ego trip, in interviews saying that "I was a fighter and Bruce Lee never competed, as if that means something. Norris is also quoted, when Bruce was alive, when ask who would really win in a fight to the death? Chuck said "Bruce of course, nobody could beat him". Interesting, how ego crept in and made some people "forget what was what".

Anyway, this book by John Little (Bruce Lee's student) puts all that nonsense to bed. All of the incidents in this book can be verified by people who were there and are still alive. In some cases, there are multiple points of verification, some of which I knew, but many I didn't know being a consummate Bruce Lee fan. As such, I think this is a fantastic record of Bruce Lee's martial arts (fighting) accomplishments. I would recommend it to anyone who really wants to know the verifiable truth about Bruce Lee's history and his ability to fight! This book it a must!! I will be also purchasing the hard copy for my collection.

Fantastic Record of Bruce Lee's Accomplishments!!

This book was very necessary! It’s been 50 years since The Dragon passed away, and more myth has clouded his legacy than truth. Myth and doubt are the first things you hear when Bruce’s name is mentioned. And John Little destroyed every single negative connotation about Bruce Lees abilities with this book. “He was just an actor” “He really couldn’t fight” are the two most ridiculous statements when it comes to the legacy of Bruce Lee. Hearing testimonies from Bruces teachers, family, friends and students was all I needed to hear. They validated everything I believed about the life and legacy of Bruce Lee. To those that know, and understand the truth, we know that he was special. Bruce studied, and worked hard at becoming the best martial artist he could. He also helped anyone that was willing work and become the best they could be. Whether it was martial arts champions, professional athletes, or the average man or woman, looking to reach higher levels, he helped them develop. Bruce Lee was a living example of “lead by example”. From start to finish, this book helped me understand why and how Bruce Lee became who he became. The “what could have been” excerpts from the book were the most inspiring. The opportunities he could have had, had he survived the cerebral edema on July 20th, 1973, brought tears to my eyes. He was almost there. He almost reached his Ultimate Chief Aim. Also, hearing the praise he got from legends people revere made me proud. It made me proud to be a Bruce Lee fan! Bruce Lee proved his doubters wrong when he was alive. John Little proved the Bruce Lee doubters wrong with this book. 10/10 I would highly recommend! Bruce Lee was truly “one of them ones!” Thank you Mr. John Little for everything you have done to preserve the life, the teachings ,and the legacy of the legendary Bruce Lee! LONG LIVE THE LEGACY AND SPIRIT OF BRUCE LEE!

Great insight to the legacy of Bruce Lee. As a Martial Artist myself of 54 years he was a great inspiration to my training. The stories of his fights put to rest that he wasn’t a real fighter!

The real insight to Bruce Lee’s transformation from street fighter to the G.O.A.T. Martial Artist.
