Narrator Change in Book 8

I originally had a difficult time with this series because the narration made these characters into snarky valley girls. I wanted to slap the main characters in book 1-3. I finally got used to the narrator and accepted the voices. Then, without warning, the narrator changed to Hollis McCarthy in book 8. Now, I usually love this performer, but all I can hear is Jayne Frost and Buttercup from the Kristen Painter series. I am so lost and can't follow this book at all. I don't know which character is talking. I am so disappointed. Why would you change narrators in book 8?

SO DISAPPOINTED!!!

I was so happy and excited to find this writer and series! I bought them in sets of 3. after the first 3, I actually bought additional credits and bought the next 2 sets of 3. Loved the characters, storyline and great performance. Aris was great narrator!

Then I hit book 8 and my joy vanished! The change in narrator was a horror. The 3 main characters were destroyed.Baby talk that was cartoon like! Made them lose credibility. Painful to listen. I tried to get past it but just couldn't. Bay got a nasally voice and was insecure and subservient to an overbearing Landon. Clove was unbearably whiney and childlike. Thistle sounds like a man! The voices of Bay and Clove were more like the child, Annie.

I love audiobooks but just can't continue with this narrator. So very sad! Hollister McCarthy was a HUGE mistake!!

Narrator changes for Book 8 &9, and not for the better!

Wow, new narrator is awful!!
The voices are all WAY to similar between male & female characters. And why does Thistle have a weird cross between a New York accent and someone you’re trying to imitate but make them sound stupid?!
Clove she makes incredibly whiny! Ugg
Almost quit listening to this series because of the new narrator. And honestly debating continuing on to Book 10.

Narrator

I cannot believe all the reviews that say that Hollis McCarthy ruined the narration. It’s mind blowing because in my opinion she is much much better than Aris. She transports you into the story where as Aris just reads the book using slightly different voices. I actually skipped over Book 7 because aris is that bad.

I do love these books. However i can’t stand Landon. Can he be written out of the story? He’s an arrogant, sleazy, controlling Neanderthal. And Bay’s so enamored with him that she comes off as pathetic.

Voices should not change

It was very distracting that the voices from 1-6 book was different from rest. Thistles voice was very distracting she sounded like a man. I didn’t like the change. It made the book not pleasant to listen.

Still a great story

Iove the stories. I got used to Hollis from another book. I also think being partial to certain readers does distract from the great story. I still love the stories. Love both readers.

Narrators are so important!

I love these stories and the carry over characters. They become your friends. The narrator is terrible and needs to be replaced. She makes Bay sound like a 5 year old instead of a 30 year old woman. Her narration makes it hard to finish the stories she reads. I might have to forget the audible versions and go to Kindle to finish the series. Love the characters... dislike the reader. She might be good reading children's stories.
