From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

Ideas for living sustainably
Great ideas for how to live, advance, and advocate for sustainability.
This is packed full of ways to promote sustainability in your own life, with your children, and/or in the world. Personal health, education, everything I can think of was covered in this book. There is even a bonus at the end called DIY recipes for laundry soap and other cleaning supplies, etc. Great tips.
Very practical ideas for gardening, diets, solar and more to help you feel competent and confident in your sustainable living choices. Avoid feeling helpless and be inspired. This book also encourages you to consider carreers in sustainability, something I didn’t realize was such a growing industry. Check it out and do your part.

Go Green!
From the very first page, Ellison's words resonated with me. He doesn't preach; he gently pushes toward a greener lifestyle. I found his steps to be practical and easy to understand and most importantly, easy to follow. What I really loved are the small changes you can make in your day-to-day life and not try to do it all at once. This is something I can do that fits into my busy lifestyle. One of the things that stuck with me is his view on recycling and how the focus needs to shift to making better choices when shopping. I’ve always tried to do my small part in cleaning up our planet. I highly recommend this book if you want to make a long-lasting commitment to a greener lifestyle.

Insightful!
This audiobook was definitely eye opening. I've been trying to learn more about sustainable living, and this book offers a ton of practical tips. I learned tips that go beyond just recycling (as that's the last choice).. options for renewable energy and how your everyday choices impact the planet. I appreciated the age-appropriate ways to involve your family, so I could start incorporating some of these things with my 2 little ones. I liked that the message of this book shows that every small change in your household routine makes a significant difference.
