When my husband Oliver died, my life ended. My purpose, my passion, my everything bled out with him on the side of the Pacific Coast Highway. Ollie was an organ donor. His eyes, his brain, his lungs, his heart...parts of my Ollie went out and saved lives. Then his heart, beating in another man's chest, found its way back to me, and I found myself faced with an impossible choice: hold on to the pain and beauty of the past and the memory of the man I loved, or reach for a bold new future, knowing each heartbeat will be a reminder of all I've lost.
I wasn't supposed to live past 30. My grandfather died at 45. Heart failure. My father died at 38 Heart failure. The doctors told me my whole life that I wouldn't see my 31st birthday. My heart was going to give out. It was just a matter of time: a rare blood type and an unusually large heart meant essentially zero chance of a transplant. I proved them all wrong...by dying on my 31st birthday. And then I woke up, alive, with another man's heart inside my chest, and his widow on my conscience. I spent my whole life preparing for death, and now I have to learn how to live. Only, as I soon discovered, living is the easy part. Loving, and allowing myself to be loved...well, that's a whole lot harder.

Lachlan was a rich Playboy sailing the seas from adrenaline filled adventure to adventure.. but he had a congenital heart defect with a life expectancy of only 30 years so he lived life to the max.. until his heart finally gave out. But instead of passing over to the afterlife after his death Lachlan came around.. saved by the gift of a donor's healthy heart. But Lachlan only knew how to party and now he had to figure out what to do with the rest of his life.. and the first thing he thought of was find out whose heart he had. Which sent him on a long road trip where, at the end of it, Lachlan would find love - but not peace.. that would come much much later.
This is such a touching heartbreaking story but it's also a story of compassion, passion, courage and the selfless, tireless, dangerous work that Disaster Relief Workers face both overseas and at home. Once the h/h met, there was instant chemistry, sex and tender heartfelt scenes.. but their relationship wasn't smooth running and they would have to wait and work hard for their HEA ending. Pulse-pounding drama too when they were in the wrong place when a tornado hit. Dual POV and both narrators did a great job.
Worth a credit? It's heavy, humbling, heartbreaking and heartwarming too so beware as this isn't an easy-going light listen that will let you mentally escape to la la land for a while.. but it is a well-written intense journey.. and YES, for me, it's creditworthy.

A beautiful tale of love, loss, tragedy, grief, renewal, and living. Jasinda Wilder takes the reader/listener on an emotional journey of two relationships bound by one heart and two loves. The emotions vary from joy to tragic loss to hot steamy intimate scenes and seem to be all over the place, but isn’t that how life is? This is a story of life and how life goes on.A tale of love and life

I just don't think the crazy personality changes would of ever really happen in life.

The story itself, I debated on a 3.5 or 4 star but ended up going with 4 stars because the concept of the story was great. Very well written even. Loch and Niall Had instant chemistry right away and while I am not opposed to that at all, I would like to have a little bit more development with them than just the instant attraction, especially since Niall had just lost the love of her life only 6 months before meeting Loch. Ollie was her everything, and she gave into lust pretty quickly after meeting Loch. Although she did keep thinking of Ollie when she was with Loch, which is quite understandable.
Their attraction exploded into some pretty hot and steamy parts!
Loch being given a second chance at life had also given Niall a second chance at life, at love again. She has no one else since her husband died. Her family doesn't have anything to do with her, basically disowned her. And Loch had lived his life as if he were going to die, and he was. He never fell in love, never let anyone close, doing whatever he wanted, sailing around the world since he was a trust fund baby. Out living life to the fullest, so when his feelings for Niall changed and became too much, he didn't know how to react. He ran, which is what he seems good at. Until a disaster hit and him and Niall are out helping people. It hit hard for Niall since that is what she used to do with her deceased husband, Ollie. And it hit Loch because he realized his life up to that point had been selfish, and he didn't think he deserved Niall and the second change he had been given.
The story is a sad one, I couldn't imagine being in Nialls shoes. But it wasn't the heartbreaking tale I was expecting. It was still a good story though. Although, I really wish we had gotten more at the end. After being separated for almost 2 years, when they meet again, it seemed to be an instant 'I love you and I wanna be with you'. The end. Seemed a little rushed and I really, really, would have loved an epilogue to show how they overcame some of the issues between them and moved on to get their happily ever after.
Pretty decent story

Summer and Tyler are an awesome duo and I love how they brought this book to life. Summer made Nial's pain and angst a real thing for me.
Jasinda Wilder is one of my favorite authors and this books shows why that is. This book is absolutely worth the credit.

A profoundly touching tale of falling in love again! This was a heartbreaking story which tugged at my heart strings. My only qualm is that it could have done with a decent epilogue. An overall enjoyable listen! 3.5 stars.A great story

Nial was devastated to lose her husband Ollie in a terrible accident. He was one of those people that gave everything he had towards helping others, the sort of death that makes you wonder why someone so good was taken.
Lach is is 30 years old and slowly dying of a non curable heart condition. He has accepted his fate but while his life slowly chips away he lives it completely in the moment. Exhilarating, life risking extreme sports and adventures are how he copes with his pending death.
Two people withe very different lives are about to cross paths in the most extraordinary way and it will be life changing for both of them.
This was a heart wrenching and emotional read
