About this listen

Chris is your friendly neighborhood zombie. He has desires and hungers just like the rest of the undead, which is convenient since his brother, Spencer, is the village mortician. There's just one problem: Spencer has met a girl. There's no winning for Chris. If things go well with the girl, Spencer is going to neglect him. If things go poorly, the consequences could be very far reaching. What's a zombie to do?

When I selected this novella, what I expected was your run-of-the-mill zombie tale, perhaps a bit tongue-in-cheek given the title. What I got was much more. The story had a lot of depth to it and was somewhat serious versus slapstick. Although it did have some fun moments (think: Michael Jackson’s Thriller video). It wasn’t quite a paranormal love story, yet there was a touch of romance. I’d classify it more thriller than horror, although it had that too. Ultimately, it was a tale about mental abuse and revenge, culminating in disastrous results. It is a very good story; surprisingly good. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Gimme that old-time voodoo!

These are more like zombies in the traditional voodoo sense.

When a blind woman sparks up a relationship with a bullied cryptkeeper with a facial birthmark, things get very romantic... and haywire. Worth a listen.

The narrator was passable. The choice of voice he went with for the female character was a little irritating.

This isn't just some George A. Romero fanfiction.
