Background music is unbelievably obnoxious

I find the background music obnoxious, distracting, unnecessary, and just plain stupid. My negative reaction to it is so strong that, if it persists for another episode, I’ll abandon the series. I have found the material edifying and thought-provoking but the irritating and superfluous background is making the presentation unlistenable.
