About this listen
Thursday, May 15: In this episode of The Daily Grind, we follow the incredible journey of Richard Allen, born enslaved in 1760, who rose to become the founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church—the first independent Black denomination in the United States. Through courage, resilience, and unwavering faith, Allen transformed suffering into service, broke racial barriers in the church, and called the nation to honor the image of God in every person. His story reminds us that when the world says “you don’t belong,” the Gospel says, “you are called.”
