En el pasaje de las Escrituras de hoy Jesús les preguntó a sus discípulos: «Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?». Los discípulos contestaron: «Unos, Juan el Bautista; otros, Elías; y otros, alguno de los profetas». Entonces él les dijo: «Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy? Respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Tú eres el Cristo». Entonces Jesús dijo que era Dios Padre quien le hizo saber a Pedro que era el Cristo. Esta confesión: «Eres el Cristo» es corta, pero es una confesión que demuestra de manera concisa y significativa que el Señor es nuestro Salvador.
