Now as a non native she gives us her perspective of working and living within Indian Country. As an educator she worked with various tribes, tribal organizations, and non natives working with Native American children both on and off tribal land. She dedicated 60+ years of work in many different regions including the Southwest, Northwest and Great Plains. Now retired we sit down with her and look back on these memories and hard work done in the good name of Native peoples.     In this first ever episode of A Native Podcast with Matt Zach. We give you an introduction to who we are and where we come from. We not only explain our personal histories but our native educational histories as well. We plan on having this podcast out weekly to help educate those on all the topics within Indian Country. We plan on doing research to differnt tribes, organizations and tribal histories all with the plans of sharing that information here. We also like to remind everyone that this is a positive safe space and we do not have the time to deal with those who don't respect that, hate will not be tolerated. We also like to remind you that we do this completely free. We are not funded by grants or are we paid to talk about the topics we choose. Everything Matt and Zach do is to help better educate all who want to learn about Indian Country and the Native peoples that inhabit it. None of the interviews, guest, or content is paid for this is again all free and done in the free time that Matt and Zach have.     In todays interview we have a conversation with Gerald Gray Jr, Chairman of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana. Gerald discusses the journey he went on from being a volunteer council member back in 2010 to leading his tribe to Federally recognition in 2019. We discuss the challenges it took for him and the Little Shell people s well as the 100 years war with the Federal Government. The Little Shell are the newest Federally Recognized Tribe in the Country so we also dive into some the work the Tribe is currently doing. Such as setting up a government with various entities.
