About this listen
Hello, Friend, I recently faced a situation that was wearing me down. It left me fatigued, frustrated, and feeling like a failure.
Weariness can drain our passion, strength, and determination, leaving us feeling depleted and unable to fight the good fight.
May I remind you, "Those who hope in God and wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:31.
There is a way to get your second wind, run, and not be weary. In a sense, this 'second wind' refers to a renewed strength and energy from our faith and trust in God.
So, what's the secret to finding your second wind?
It lies in our waiting on God and his promises. It's in the hope we place in the Lord, knowing that he will renew our strength and guide our steps. This waiting is not passive but filled with anticipation, grounded in love and not accusation.
How do we do that? One of my favorite methods of healing and renewing is to be thankful for specific things, practice gratitude, and not accuse yourself or complain.
Let's break it down: Start your day with gratitude, praise God throughout the day, remind yourself of his greatness, expect his intervention, and avoid self-blame or complaints.
As you wait, God breathes new strength, energy, passion, vision, and vitality into your spirit. This is his promise to you, a promise that brings hope and reassurance.
Prayer for today:
Thank you, Lord, for your promise of strength and endurance as a reward when we wait on you.
Holy Spirit, please do not let me get stuck in a rut of negativity or fear.
Jesus, may you refresh us with joy. Grant us a gift found in the oil of hope. Revive us in your love, leading us into renewal.
Papa God, thank you for your promise that the good, loving King will renew our strength with a second wind as we await you.
May you put vigor in us again to enable us to rise with wings like an eagle.
May the wind of resistance that is pushing against us change direction.
May the gentle breeze of Jesus refresh us, recharge us, and recalibrate us to be in the jet stream of his favor, might, and power.
Please help us all shake off disappointments and embrace the robust strength of the Energized King of Kings. This strength, which is not dependent on our efforts or circumstances, is available to us through Christ, regardless of our past failures or current circumstances.
We ask for new hope to radiate in and through us.
We give you anything that has drained, disappointed, or discouraged us. We trade in our broken dreams, failures, and hurts.
Now, loving Jesus, you give us beauty for ashes. Thank you, Jesus, for this metaphor, used in Scripture, that symbolizes the transformation of our pain and suffering into something beautiful and meaningful through your love and grace.
We let go of the old. We release the disappointments. In their place, Papa God, we embrace the promise of new beginnings, for the slate has been wiped clean.
As we wait upon you, you give us new strength.
Today’s a new day.
Refresh and energize us.
Empower us in the spirit of his might.
Amen.
