  • Good News for the GOP?
    Sep 30 2024
(AURN News) — A new Gallup analysis of polling data suggests Republicans have a favorable environment heading into the 2024 presidential election, despite Vice President Kamala Harris leading in various national and state polls. The analysis, based on data collected primarily from Sept. 3-15, shows big surprises about where the country is politically. Gallup's tracking shows more U.S. adults identify as Republican or lean Republican (48%) compared to those who identify as or lean Democratic (45%). Gallup's data also indicates the GOP holds advantages in other critical areas. When it comes to handling important issues, 46% of Americans believe Republicans are better equipped to address the country's most pressing problems, compared to 41% for Democrats. On economic prosperity, 50% think Republicans would do a better job keeping the country prosperous, versus 44% for Democrats. The gap widens further on national security, with 54% favoring Republicans on keeping the nation safe from terrorism and international threats, compared to 40% for Democrats.
