  • A Decade Since Charleston: The Legacy of the Emanuel Nine
    Jun 17 2025

On June 17, 2015, nine Black churchgoers were murdered during Bible study at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Ten years later, their names still echo across the nation—not just as victims, but as community pillars, faith leaders, and family members whose lives were taken by hate.

In this special anniversary episode, therapist and host Solomon Richberg honors the lives lost, centers survivor stories, and explores the trauma, grief, and resilience that followed. Through a trauma-informed and culturally grounded lens, this episode reflects on what has changed—and what hasn’t—in America’s reckoning with white supremacy and racialized violence.

We remember. We reflect. We resist.

  • Pulse — 49 Lives, Not Just a Number
    Jun 10 2025

On June 12, 2016, 49 lives were taken at Pulse nightclub in Orlando.
It was Latin Night. It was joy. It was community. And in seconds — it became one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. The majority of those killed were LGBTQ+ and Latinx. Many were Black and Brown. Some undocumented. Some misgendered in death. Some never fully seen in life. This episode of After the Headlines isn’t about the violence itself — it’s about the people.
Their joy. Their humanity. Their stories.I also speak about the weight of identity-based violence, collective grief, and the ways entire communities are left to process trauma without support. If this conversation resonates — especially if you’ve ever felt unseen or dehumanized because of your identity — I invite you to check out my journal, Rooted in Pain, Rising in Power. It’s not just about healing.
It’s about reclaiming your strength, rewriting your story, and rising with intention.
This journal was created to support Black and Brown folks in processing racism — and stepping fully into their power.

🕯️ We remember. We reclaim. We rise.
