Ain’t Nothing like a Midwest Girl with Chidi

  • Summary

  • Braids, sew-ins, quick weaves, frontals, you name it.

The HBCU experience is something worth paying attention to from the homecomings, black excellence, to even the beauty trends that set the pace for years to come. Even when we look at many organizations on these yards, one that stands out is the Royal Court who is surely to be eye catching at every event. Yet, behind every iconic look is a hairstylist that sets the tone for all to see. Don’t worry, the People’s Princess Podcast got you covered.

This conversation features a fellow Midwest girl, all the way from Minnesota, Chidi or @donebychidi, who is the FIRST hairstylist for the Royal Court organization, starting with the 2024-2025 Dynamic Royal Court at the Prairie View A&M University from the Miss Sophomore to the 92nd Miss Prairie View University giving undeniably elegant and of course LAID looks that might make you throw a shoe at her.(It’s that good, believe me.) With her hands, you will absolutely be asking for not only the hairstylist, but the “DonebyChidi” experience that’ll have you leave her chair looking like a Barbie doll on the shelf.

Through the conversation, let us take you through what it looks like to be a Midwest girl at an HBCU, the experiences we have at our respective HBCUs, what sets Prairie View apart from other institutions, her journey as a student + full time hairstylist, to of course life outside her salon. The salon is officially open and receiving appointments so sit back, relax, and enjoy a new conversation only here on the People’s Princess Podcast, the only home for those intimate and intentional conversations surely to make YOU feel like royalty!
