About this listen
As the Co-Founder and Executive Director of VETS: Veterans Exploring Treatment Options, Amber Capone has built and led the organization from a grassroots movement into a nationally-recognized nonprofit that has assisted over 800 veterans to receive psychedelic-assisted therapy treatment outside the U.S., as well as preparation and integration coaching and extensive support for veteran spouses.
But Amber’s inspirational advocacy really began as a love story. When her husband, Marcus Capone, returned from 13 years of combat deployment as a U.S. Navy Seal with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and on the brink of suicide, Amber was desperate to save him. As a last ditch effort after years of failed treatments, Marcus travelled to Mexico to receive treatment with the psychedelic medicine ibogaine — and immediately went from having 80% bad days to 80% good days, with continued improvement ever since.
Amber and Marcus have since dedicated their lives to helping as many veterans as possible receive the healing they deserve and stopping veteran suicide. With her current work on Capital Hill, Amber and VETS are on the forefront of changing U.S. psychedelic laws. I dare you to listen to this interview without crying!
