About this listen

In this scripted Audible Original, five mentally ill teenagers in an inpatient wilderness program during the apocalypse face not only the end of the world, but also the end of their prescriptions. Now, they have to figure out what’s real and what’s just a side effect, and keep their wits about them as they fight for their lives and their minds. Apocalypse Untreated is a multi-part, post-apocalyptic thriller brought to life with world class sound design, and performance. The story moves between real-time action, audio diaries, and archival therapy sessions as our central characters struggle for survival in a deteriorating world.

Apocalypse Untreated is created by Gaby Dunn, an actor, podcaster, LGBTQ activist and New York Times best-selling author and focuses on themes of survival, queer identity, and mental health. Also starring Chanel Ali (Girl Code), Jes Tom (Soojung Dreams of Fiji), Adam Faison (Everything’s Going to Be Ok), and a full cast.

A lot of reviews are mentioning political views being shoved down their throat, but considering this was made in 2020 and the fictional president is denying that there is an asteroid that is about to destroy the earth… It’s a pretty accurate satire of current events. Either people are in denial of this or they didn’t like the black lesbians having guns.

Great podcast

I'm halfway through as I write this so keep that in mind. The concept is pretty good but it's difficult to get into it when the main character's performance feels forced. Also her stance on things is so brash and one sided it's difficult to care for her disposition. She's so unlikeable. Other performers are good though. Hope it gets better, it's at least worth finishing.

Main Character Performance is annoying.

Was a nice fantasy of unrealistic outcomes. I found myself lost in the absurdity of it all

Fun but Meh

I love the story and the main idea was just amazing! I wish there was more story but what is here is just amazing. I love the mental health aspect of the story and how much it effects each of the characters and shows how different they are on their meds vs off.

I want more

This story is so out there the characters feel so real well the political message disagrees with my tastes it is incredibly well done and feels like you’re there it feels like these characters are people you can meet it’s just the genre two it’s so pacific apocalypse and mental disorder mixed together it’s just so rare and uncommon it feels like you’re reading a truly new story something you’ve never seen before i’ve listen to this at least five times and I just can’t stop it’s so new and the material is so good that I got to say you should try the book and look past the political messaging it’s the story that counts

Blown away

I always think it's funny how conservatives scream "lefties" are snowflakes but then turn around and cry and moan about gay people or get offended about politics lol. like come on guys this is literally fiction entertainment. I swear you'll be okay! Anyways this was fun to listen to while I was at work! it wasn't too intense or deep. The schizophrenia girl was my favorite.

This was fun!

I really enjoyed this story. It actually made me laugh out loud several times, and brought me to tears at at least one point. I just HATED the separate episodes. I only had a few episodes (2-3) that automatically went to the next episode. Once I got past Episode 11, every following episode returned to Episode 11 instead of continuing on to the next episode. I had to start the subsequent episodes manually. I would have stopped listening if I hadn't enjoyed the plot and characters so much. (Please note: foul language, sexuality, adult themes, etc.)

Liked the Story -- HATED the Separate Episodes!!
