We are joined by our good friend Karen McRee in today's episode. She is the owner of So. G Coffee Roaster in South Glastonbury CT and after a separation from her husband received the devastating news of her brain & lung cancer diagnosis. Karen's ability to continue to let love in is inspiring and teaches us all to live life to the fullest everyday.

You're single and dealing with illness.. when is the right time to date? Is there a right time? I saw my breast cancer diagnosis as the perfect time to let love in again. Katie's daughter has Type One Diabetes and although it's extremely challenging for two households, has been able to leave space for a new relationship.

There is no handbook. There are no rules. We are here to live, love and give back to those in our community that need us most. 

It's our absolute delight to complete our first season with this episode and the very idea that NOW is the perfect time to let love in.

Tiffany May is the host of a brand new podcast called, The Step Sister Podcast. She was the loveliest young woman to speak to about blended families and the stigmas divorce can bring.

She is a model, entrepreneur and clearly from the title of her podcast, a stepsister! When her parents divorced and went their separate ways, they met new partners and that's when some major shifts started happening for Tiffany. Having a new Step Dad, biological siblings, an inherited step sibling and a brand new half sibling on the way, she knew her family was different and it was all a process worth navigating for her. 

After dealing with the stigmas her newly re-organized family brought on, she was able to not only open up to more love but offer a place for other families, kids especially, to feel seen.

The Step Sister Podcast is something Tiffany could have benefited from as a teenager and so she created it for others.

As single women, not yet having ventured into a blended family situation, we found so much to connection to what Tiffany has been through. There are still stigmas around being a single mom, being in a blended family, or dating as a single parent. 

In this episode we hope to shed a little light on that and let people see how much love there is out there, if we just let it in.

The word "boundary" literally didn't exist in my vocabulary 5, 10 or even 15 years ago, which is mind blowing to me. Because I think my kids probably hear it on the daily and those boundaries are a vital part of life. Who knew. 

I often wonder how my life and relationships and dare I say decision to get married at 22 might be different if I had this knowledge of boundaries.  Part of life is learning from experiences, taking them and doing better. So this idea of boundaries and the freedom and joy they can ultimately create in life is one of the best life lessons that I continue to learn and love and explore.  

Listen in as Nicole and I talk about what this looks like in our lives, how it brings joy and freedom in ways we wouldn't have otherwise experienced.

The big "D". Can you say it? I want a Divorce. I am divorced. We are divorcing. I will find every other way to say the word!

Why is it so hard to say the word Divorce? Do you say it? Or maybe you're more in the "Consciously Uncoupled" camp? Why do we have to mark ourselves "Divorced"? And for the love of God, can we stop fishing for who did what and accept that nice people get divorced? Villain or Victim, maybe we're just moving on? Labels suck! We can accept we're no longer married but can we just reclaim "Single" and move on from there? Please?
