  • The Album That Changed A Generation Red Hot + Blue From John Garrison
    Nov 22 2024
Released in 1990, this iconic album was the music industry’s first major response to the AIDS epidemic. Featuring contemporary pop performers like U2, Sinéad O'Connor, The Neville Brothers, and Annie Lennox, reinterpreting the music of Cole Porter, one of the great American songwriters of the early 20th century, the album sold more than a million copies worldwide. In his book, Red Hot + Blue, John S. Garrison explores the powerful intersection of music, activism, and personal memory through the lens of this iconic 1990 album .More than just a tribute to Cole Porter; RED HOT + BLUE was a groundbreaking project that united artists across genres and generations in the fight against AIDS. Released at the height of the epidemic, the album’s fusion of contemporary and classic sounds served as both a fundraiser and a platform for activism raising millions of dollars for HIV/AIDS charities. Capturing both the joy and melancholy that accompany love during turbulent times. It re-imagined those iconic songs - including “Don't Fence Me In,” “Every Time We Say Goodbye,” “Night and Day” - not just to celebrate the composer but also to offer a shared vision for survival. Garrison writes, “the album needed to jar people, to urge them to speak openly about what it meant to love even when the virus made connection increasingly more precarious. Porter’s music gives voice to a man unafraid to announce his desire for affection, even from those who rejected him and even in a world where many people disapproved of his kind of love. I can’t imagine a more fitting voice for the music industry’s first major response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.” In his book, Garrison reflects on his life story through the lens of Porter's life and music to illuminate the emotional landscape we all navigate in the search for love.

  • The Navajo Paranormal Ranger Stanley Milford There's A Lot Of Unexplained Things On This Little Planet
    Nov 21 2024
"From dozens of Bigfoot sightings in the San Juan River Valley to a deeply disturbing UFO visitation near Satan's Butte to a poltergeist-like haunting of an office in Window Rock, the cases I investigated led me to one inevitable conclusion: There is so much more to this world and our vast universe than we can imagine, and we have only begun to scratch the surface." - From the Introduction In THE PARANORMAL RANGER: A Navajo Investigator's Search for the Unexplained (William Morrow; on sale 10/1/24), Stanley Milford Jr. delivers a gripping memoir of his investigations into perplexing cases of the paranormal and unexplained over the course of his illustrious career serving the Navajo Nation.Raised with a deep-rooted connection to the supernatural due to his diverse heritage grounded in Navajo and Cherokee traditions, Milford's upbringing uniquely positioned him to navigate the eerie realms he would encounter when he joined the fabled Navajo Rangers. Equal parts police officers, archeological conservationists, and historians, the rangers are responsible for overseeing the massive 27,000-square-mile Navajo Nation, where mundane tasks blend seamlessly with extraordinary occurrences. When Milford first became a ranger, he handled everyday cases such as cattle inspections and domestic disputes, but that quickly gave way to more bizarre cases of mysterious livestock mutilations, spine-chilling encounters with skinwalkers and cryptids, UFOs, and malicious hauntings.

    Nov 21 2024
Jake has been raising kids alongside his wife, Ashleigh, since he was 19. He met Ashleigh when he was just 18, and it was love at first sight after a mutual friend introduced them. Within a year, they were married and a month after the wedding, they learned they were expecting a baby boy. By the time Jake was 24, he was already a father of four. Working full-time as a worship leader to support his family, it's a miracle Jake found time to work on his craft. Music has been a significant part of his life since childhood. Jake's dad introduced him to Elvis when he was 6, and he soon fell in love with country music. Growing up, Jake often performed at talent shows with the guitar his dad gave him when he was 9. Currently, Jake gigs every weekend at bars and restaurants across Oklahoma. He schedules his performances in the evenings after his kids go to sleep, and, when possible, the whole family comes to watch him do what he loves.

  • Dr Anthony M D'Agostino Gets Out Front With Prejudice Racism And Tribalism
    Nov 21 2024
“There is a racial divide in America that does not serve us well,” concludes Dr. D’Agostino. “Prejudice, racism, and tribalism are characteristics of human society. This book is meant to be a primer for White people who seem unusually susceptible to political exploitation at this time in history. My hope is that if leaders have a better understanding of the long, historical view of human society, they’ll be inclined to buy fewer guns, ban few books, and have a better understanding of what it means to be a White American.”
