• Offenses Will Come, Part 2
    Sep 25 2024

Offense. Jesus tells us in His Word that they will most certainly come. How we handle them says a lot about our spiritual and emotional maturity. The Lord gives us an opportunity to process whatever offended us with Him, in order that we don't become bitter and live from a place of wounding.

This discussion is Part 2 of episode 36, where co-hosts Cynthia Huffmyer and Jenni Zabel talk about what author and Bible teacher, John Bevere, calls The Bait of Satan.

  • Addiction and Codependence in Marriage, with Special Guest Robin RIley
    Jul 23 2024

Alcohol and substance abuse are detrimental to a marriage.

The amount of stress, familial distress, anger, resentment, dysfunctional communication, financial strain, interruption of healthy family dynamics, and negative mental health affects that alcoholism brings to a marriage is hard to quantify. However, statistics point to alcohol abuse leading to an increase in divorce rates by at least 20%.

With estimates showing that between 10% to up to 45% of marriages in the United States are impacted by alcoholism, this is a problem that the Church must address.

In addition to the destructiveness of dealing with an addiction in marriage, if co-dependence is present, the situation is further complicated.

Listen as Robin Riley discusses how she was confronted with her own co-dependence as she faced alcohol abuse in her marriage, and how recognizing it led to not only her own freedom, but her husband's as well.

In this episode, you will hear from a believer who clung to the Promises of God, sought community support, and ultimately fought for and found recovery and redemption in her marriage.

  • Jesus is Greater
    Jul 5 2024

Many people will never find themselves in the spotlight, or in a position of fame or notoriety.

However, everyone will be faced with the decision of whether we choose to take what the world has to offer, or forsake the world to follow Jesus.

In this episode, Aly Gooch, wife of professional golfer, Talor Gooch, shares how she has found that Jesus is greater than anything the world could ever give, how the peace that comes from Him truly satisfies, and that her biggest desire is that she would point others to the joy and grounding that comes from placing your life in Jesus' hands.

In an authentic and vulnerable way, Aly will encourage listeners to persevere in the face of opposition, and to pursue a life of genuine faith.

  • Stewarding Your Life Well, with Special Guest Jantzen Miller
    Jun 18 2024

Many times in life we place our focus on future goals and dreams instead of maximizing what we have right in front of us. We rush into doing what we think is best instead of asking God what His best is for us, missing the most critical piece in our quest to leverage impact in the Kingdom and our everyday lives. We often miss what is best, for what is good.

In this episode, hosts Cynthia Huffmyer and Jenni Zabel talk with executive coach and author of the new book, Now Before Next, Jantzen Miller, about the idea that stewardship as a Christian looks like fully engaging what you have, while working for what you want, as you employ spiritual awareness and discernment.

Jantzen shares with us about the difference in laboring in God's strength versus striving in our own, as well as a lot of practical advice about how to lead our lives in a way that honors and glorifies God, while bringing the most harmony.

  • Offenses Will Come
    May 21 2024

In the world today, there is an opportunity around every corner to become offended. Our culture's climate is ripe with reasons to be disillusioned and disappointed every single day. Add on situations that arise in relationships, both causal and intimate, that leave us feeling upset and wounded, and you see that what author and Bible-teacher John Bevere calls "the Bait of Satan", is just waiting for you to hold.

Jesus tells us in Luke 17:1 that it is impossible that no offenses should come, but what we do when faced with offense will be a determining factor in our spiritual, emotional, mental, and even physical health.

In this episode, hosts Cynthia Huffmyer and Jenni Zabel have an honest conversation about this important topic of offense in hopes to equip the Body of Christ in how to handle ourselves in a way that honors God and is best for us in the long run.

    Scriptures on offense:

    Luke 17:1-4

"He said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble. 3 Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”

    Proverbs 17:9

"He who conceals a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates intimate friends."

    Proverbs 19:11

"A man’s discretion makes him slow to anger, And it is his glory to overlook a transgression."

    2 Corinthians 6:3

"giving no cause for offense in anything, so that the ministry will not be discredited."

    Proverbs 18:19

"A brother offended is more unyielding than a strong city, and quarreling is like the bars of a castle."

    Leviticus 19:18

"You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord."

    Colossians 3:13

"bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive."

    Proverbs 10:12

"Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses."

    1 Peter 2:19

For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.
