Though I am a late beginner, I've been playing the vanilla Elden Ring pre-any updates and what I've come to conclude about Radagans Rune, the Threads that you speak of, which is also in the Radagans talisman and engraved into the eye, the reverse being the arch that is Marikas rune, when I entered the Erdtree for the first time and fought Radagan, I was fully expecting to see Queen Marika, and I hadn't even done the goldmask questline to establish that the two were actually one. The condition of him told me that he'd been subdued and what more, with Marika's own rune was restraining him. Then it shatters in the presence of the death rune allowing him to run free again but as a mindless rune cursed god. Then upon defeating him, he's devoured by that black pool, and the elden beast emerges. I completely support the idea that the elden beast is actually a starborn deity but it's clearly a Celestial, formless god. and after having the floor cleaned by my body a few times by it, I came to a new conclusion, due to how persistent the lore about Ranni wanting to destroy the status quo, that Marika had traded her own divinity in a battle with Radagan for supremacy that she had in fact wanted to seal away the Elden Beast, and after learning about the Minor Erdtree incantation, I can definately say, As a god, Marika cast the incantation Erdtree which not only created an illusory tree but grew an entire one to seal away the erd beast. I think that radagan wanted to use the beasts power to establish a new order to overturn Marikas golden order, and not just in regret of her own grievous choices but to completely stop Radagan, she sealed all three of them away into the tree, which led to her defeat and imprisonment with her own rune. but it's speculation based on pre update and pre dlc.
