For this episode, I had the pleasure of hosting biometrics expert John Splain to share his valuable insights and experiences regarding biometric standards. John is a well-respected member of the biometric and forensic standards development community with over a decade of experience in developing and adopting standards. He has served as the Deputy Editor of ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2011 and NIST Special Publication 500-290 Data Format for the Interchange of Fingerprint, Facial & Other Biometric Information. Additionally, John is the inaugural chair of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) Standards Board (ASB) Friction Ridge Consensus Body.
In this episode, we covered various topics related to biometrics, such as understanding biometric standards, the different types of standards, and their variances. We also delved into how standards aid product teams in creating superior and more secure products. Additionally, we discussed how product teams ensure their biometric products comply with specific standards. Moreover, we explored ways to stay updated on the latest biometric developments and touched on recommended conferences that focus on biometric-centric discussions.
