There are various elements going on when you look at it from mystery, Neo-noir, psychological horror, thriller, surrealist, dreamlike, but when you take all these elements and cook them up in David’s signature style you’re left with Lynchian.
Blue Velvet was arguably the film that would set the tone for the remainder of David’s filmography, including of course the TV series Twin Peaks.
