  • Summary

  • “The most disrespected person in America is the black woman” (Malcolm X). Has much changed since Malcolm X’s speech in 1962? With the upcoming inauguration of Vice-President-elect, Kamala Harris, our first episode explores the black woman’s journey from the Trans-Atlantic slave trade to the C-suite in corporate America and now, the White House.

Throughout history, Black American women have played pivotal roles in this country's overall success and forward movement, albeit, behind the scenes. And while there’s no denying the power and influence of the Black American woman, will Kamala Harris’s new VP role make a difference for black women and black families? Will it be enough to overcome the injustices suffered by black women, such as Breonna Taylor and Sandra Bland?

Join us as we discuss the work of exceptional black women like Stacey Abrams, Shirley Chisholm, Michelle Obama, Phillis Wheatley, popular culture icons like Ciara, and many other black women that have paved the way.

We’d love to hear your feedback, thoughts, and suggestions on what you’d like to hear for future episodes. Shoot us a note at 2beesinthetrap@gmail.com.
