第1節:“耶穌基督的啓示,就是神賜給他,叫他將必要快成的事指示他的衆僕人。他就差遣使者曉諭他的僕人約翰。”
啓示錄由使徒約翰撰寫,記錄了耶穌基督在約翰逗留拔摩島期間神對他的啓示,拔摩島是愛琴海的一個島嶼,在羅馬皇帝多米田統治的衰落期間（約西元95年）約翰曾被流放到該地。約翰被流放到拔摩島見證了神的道和耶穌的陳述,正是在該島約翰因聖靈和天使的感動才見證耶穌顯示出來的神的王國。
什麽是“耶穌基督的啓示”？我們說耶穌基督的啓示,是指神將通過他的代表耶穌基督顯示,我們這個世界將會發生什麽樣的事情,未來的天國將發生什麽樣的事情。誰是耶穌基督？他就是造物主神和救世主,他已經將人類拯救出世界的罪孽了。
