  • We read in Matthew chapter 5, verses 1-7 that Jesus spoke to His disciples and to us. Christians have called this teaching ‘the Sermon on the Mount’ since Jesus spoke these things on a mountain.
    First, if we look at the Scripture from Matthew chapter 5 verse 3, Jesus said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” What the Lord means when he says “blessed are the poor” is that He granted Heaven only to those who are poor in spirit.
