In this haunting episode of Chilling Tales for Dark Nights, silence becomes a battleground—and your own body is no longer your own. When the last thing you can trust is the sound coming from your own mouth, what’s left to hold on to? Join host Steve Taylor and returning narrator SomberReads for a descent into creeping horror where identity frays, language turns traitor, and the quiet harbors something far more sinister than any scream. From acclaimed horror writer D.D. Wikman, this tale of internal invasion and unraveling sanity will leave you questioning the next words that leave your lips. Jun 3 2025
We’ve all heard the creaks in the night—the soft clicks in the walls we tell ourselves are just the house settling. But what if they aren’t? What if something else is listening? Watching? Waiting? In this haunting installment, host Steve Taylor guides you through a tale where childhood tragedy leaves a mark too deep to bury, and the line between memory and monster begins to blur. From one of horror’s most unsettling voices comes a story that will leave you questioning what really lives behind the walls—and what it wants from you. • 372: Invitation Only - Chilling Tales for Dark Nights
    May 29 2025
Some monsters don’t break down your door… they wait for you to open it. In this unnervingly intimate episode, Chilling Tales for Dark Nights invites you to confront a fear older than any lock and far closer than you think. It’s a story of thresholds—both literal and psychological—where the line between safety and danger is drawn not in blood, but in trust. Featuring a haunting new tale from acclaimed storyteller Jay of Horror on the Rocks, this episode peels back centuries of folklore to reveal a terror that’s evolved—but never gone away. It doesn’t need to force its way in. It just needs you to say yes. "Invitation Only" by Jay of Horror on the Rocks – When a soft knock echoes through a quiet evening, what begins as a moment of kindness spirals into a meditation on memory, grief, and the invisible dangers we welcome without thinking. Drawing from centuries of vampire lore and modern fears of digital intimacy, this story reimagines the oldest monsters through the lens of trust, consent, and the subtle choices that open doors we were never meant to unlock. Both timeless and disturbingly current, this chilling tale asks a single, devastating question: Would you have done the same? I love Chilling Tales for dark nights! It not only helps me unwind and relax after a stressful taxing day at work. It lets my mind wander and keeps me entertained and just the right amount of scared. It's a great podcast that has some very talented writers and equally talented performers telling a yarn. It never gets boring and I'm always waiting with excitement and anticipation for the next episode.

The majority of episodes are engrossing, tough to ignore because each line boosts the atmosphere. While there are a few dull contributions (in my opinion), I believe that not every story posted fits the podcast as a whole?I guess I'll have to listen to them all again from the beginning- and there's nothing wrong with that. Excellent podcast, even if not episode features stories that I can 'connect' to. Keep em coming, CTFDN and I hope I can find a few stories that have haunted me since I first heard them!(but I can't remember the season/ep#)

The creep factor is high..

That blows my mind about Logan not actually being Logan Or maybe he was changed by the bird people? In any case it's terrifying to think about.

That was quite a twist!
