  • Episode 216 | Svrcina
    Mar 12 2025

On today’s show we chat with Svrcina!

Singer/songwriter SVRCINA mixes earnest balladry and adventurous electro-pop in the spirit of Sia and Ellie Goulding. Following her initial EPs, she garnered wider attention with her 2020 full-length, Elysian Fields.

Born Molly Svrcina in 1996 in Detroit, Michigan, SVRCINA ("sur-cee-nah") sang in church growing up, and became passionate about music around the age of eight. Starting her career as Molly Hunt before adopting her family name, she moved to Nashville, got a manager, and a series of subsequent writing partnerships led to her signing her first publishing deal in 2009 at the age of 13. She released a handful of acoustic-minded pop ballads as Molly Hunt over the next few years before dropping the moniker in 2013. During that year, she released SVRCINA videos including a cover version of Imagine Dragons' "Bleeding Out" and her original Christmas song "The Difference." In 2014, she was featured on the Built by Titan dance track "The Darkness," and her debut EP Lover. Fighter. arrived in early 2016. An eponymous EP appeared in early 2018, followed a year later by the Hearing Colour EP. She also garnered attention behind the scenes, co-penning MOTi and Icona Pop's "Sink Deeper," and Sj and Joakim Molitor's "Live Without You," both in 2019. There were also collaborations with Robin Schultz, Lecrae, Hulvey, and Tommee Profit.

With her most recent album release, 1200 Beats Per Minute, SVRCINA, again, showcases breathtaking vocals and mature lyricism while evoking the emotions of all who listen.

  • Episode 215 | Jason Lovins
    Mar 7 2025

On today’s show we chat with Jason Lovins!

The Jason Lovins Band is known for their unique fusion of country, Gospel and worship styles, but it’s Jason’s testimony that ultimately propels their mission and purpose. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, to a 15-year-old girl who was assaulted and impregnated by a stranger as she walked home from the community swimming pool, Jason’s mother bravely chose to give life to a child conceived in such a horrific circumstance. Raised by his mother and grandmother in a devout household of faith, Jason’s musical foundation was laid at an early age as he travelled with his grandmother’s Gospel singing group. He formed his first contemporary Christian band in college, and one night while playing at a local church, Jason felt compelled to tell his birth story for the very first time on stage. Deeply moved, the church's pastor made Jason promise he would continue to share the pivotal account each time he performed, and it’s a promise he continues to keep today.

Celebrating two decades of music and ministry in 2025, the Jason Lovins Band is poised to commemorate the milestone year with Pilgrim Road (New Day Digital Distribution), is out now. Featuring 11 tracks produced by the Kentucky-based group and showcasing their signature sound—a unique tapestry of gospel, country and pop influences—Pilgrim Road is hallmarked by guest appearances from bluegrass hitmakers Chosen Road and longtime NewSong frontman and acclaimed singer/songwriter Russ Lee.
