Unter zu Hilfenahme sprachwissenschaftlicher Methoden und altorientalischer Sprachen gelang es Christoph Luxenberg, zahlreiche Stellen neu und verständlich zu übersetzen. Damit begründete Christoph Luxenberg die textkritische Koranforschung.

The Koran, according to Islamic belief the spoken word of God, contains numerous incomprehensible passages. Using linguistic methods and ancient oriental languages, Christoph Luxenberg succeeded in translating numerous passages in a new and comprehensible way. In doing so, Christoph Luxenberg founded text-critical Koran research.
