Since the last episode, The Green Plantain and yours truly visited Greece and Turkey on a tour that took our family to the ruins of Akrotiri in Santorini, Greece. Akrotiri is not a place of fantasy; it is a prehistoric city whose excavation takes its name from a modern village set on a nearby hill because the site's name in antiquity is not known.

This is a historical fiction story of friendship and serendipity in antiquity and modern times. The young girl's name is Eleni, a nod to our excellent guide in Athens.

In this episode we explore Cuba’s folkloric poetry, the Punto Guajiro, through a few verses written by my cousin José Luis Rodríguez Martínez, who lives in Fomento, Cuba.

Punto is the poetic voice of our Cuban farmers. It consists of singings an improvised or learned stanza of ten octameter verse lines, with a rhyming scheme accompanied by string instruments.
