    Feb 27 2025

Hey! Nancy here. I'm working hard on a new episode that needs a bit more time. So for this week, I'm sharing one of my favorite bonus episodes and making it available to everyone until the next episode comes out. I love this episode because it's an extra-sleepy homage to the cult true crime series Forensic Files.

In this episode, inspired by a case from 2004, a 35-year old nurse is found dead at the bottom of an icy lake. It appears to be a terrible accident, until detectives discover a strange detail that lands her husband in hot water.

Dead Sleep: True Crime for Bedtime is created and narrated by award-winning journalist Nancy Miller (host of HBO Max's "I'll Be Gone in the Dark" "The Staircase" and "Love & Death" podcasts).

The absolute best!!!

I have searched everywhere for a true crime book, series, or podcast that was good to listen to as you fall asleep. "Gripping, not gory" is a perfect description. No nightmares just soothing true crime stories told whilst you fall asleep. It's a great way to silence my mind at night.

Just What I’ve Been Looking For!

Perfect for falling asleep - no jarring audio effects or ads, good stories, great voice. Only quibble is order of episodes in Audible, for some reason, eps don’t flow in order.

What a brilliant idea!

I would like to thank Nancy Elizabeth Miller for her captivating podcast, “ Dead Sleep True Crime for Bedtime.” Can’t sleep? Have insomnia like me? Then I highly recommend “Dead Sleep.” It works. Yes, it does. I’ve been listening for months now via Alexa and look forward to more. Miller’s vocals go above and beyond. She narrates each episode with her soothingly relaxing vocal tones and sometimes humorous antecdotes. Keep ‘em coming, Nancy! Thank you!
I did find one thing: When I groggily awake in the morning, Nancy is “podcasting” a particular episode, I find myself “having a conversation” with her during her talking, thinking I am next to someone in bed. When I fully awake, I giggle and start my day.
