    Welcome to episode no. 24 (September 2024) of Diabetes Care “On Air”—a new and different way to bring the research published in Diabetes Care to life. Join co-hosts Alice Cheng, MD, FRCPC, and Michael Rickels, MD, MS, as they discuss the latest and greatest content in the September 2024 issue of Diabetes Care and beyond. 0:30 Alice and Mike begin by highlighting a special section of the September issue of Diabetes Care: the DCCT/EDIC 40th Anniversary Collection. This collection contains five original articles containing new research from DCCT/EDIC as well as a commentary and review on the history and importance of the DCCT/EDIC. This episode of Diabetes Care “On Air” features several of the researchers who have been involved in DCCT/EDIC as well as some of the individuals living with diabetes who have taken part in the studies. Dr. Klug is the current chair of the DCCT/EDIC Research Group, and Gayle Lorenzi is the chair of the DCCT/EDIC Coordinators Committee and Community Health Project manager. Pamela Curtin and Bill King, as Alice says, “Represent arguably the most important people for this entire project.” They are individuals with diabetes who have participated in the study and have given their time, bodies, and minds to the pursuit of science and better care. 46:33: Mike talks to some of the authors of the five original articles of the DCCT/EDIC 40th anniversary collection that are featured in September’s issue: Drs.     Welcome to a very special, all-new episode (no. 23) of Diabetes CareOn Air.” While this podcast usually focuses exclusively on the research published in each month’s issue of Diabetes Care, this unique episode focuses on the incredible scholarly content of the 84th Scientific Sessions, which took place 21–24 June in Orlando, FL. Diabetes CareOn Air” co-hosts Alice Cheng, MD, FRCPC, and Michael Rickels, MD, MS, hosted a panel discussion with Kirk Habegger, PhD, Darleen Sandoval, PhD, and Kevin Williams, PhD, who co-host DiabetesBio, as well as Neil Skolnik, MD, co-host of Diabetes Core Update and Diabetes Day by Day. This episode is being released on three of our professional podcasts: Diabetes Care “On Air,” DiabetesBio, and Diabetes Core Update. This special episode is supported by an independent educational grant from Bayer.
