• The Love of Jesus
    Oct 1 2024

Pastor Tim Vink leads us for the next 6 weeks as interim pastor.

    Text: Ephesians 3:14-21

Theme: God made you to love you. (Eph. 1:4-6)

    l. God made you to love you. Christian family formed in the blood of Jesus’ atonement at the cross…new identity in our name/nature. Rooted and established in love, v. 17. Water of baptism thicker than blood of earthly families. Nature and Nurture by eternal design. Family name, family resemblance.

Romans 8:38: Filter all else through his inseparable love.

ll. Measuring the Immeasurable love of Jesus. Jesus has a superpower. Don’t resist (John 1:12)…Don’t settle (Romans 8:28)…Do receive! Alignment with his

superpower, become a super-receiver. 4 dimensions: wider, longer, higher, deeper. Force multiplying. Pray for power to grasp…to have and to hold from this day forward as a cherished bride. (Eph. 5) Agape love, creates value.

Flip all else with his supernatural love. (Romans 8:28 and verse 1; 38…no separation, no condemnation, no devastation.). “This is temporary”; Jesus’ love is eternal.

lll. Immeasurably More…. Our mind is not the measure of all things. His ways are higher, his thoughts are higher. And Jesus never stops thinking about us, his church, generation to generation. “Pleroma power” overflowing, cups running over. Not meant to be contained. Scarcity mentality or abundance? Rising expectations. Fill all else to overflowing. Glory in the church and in Christ Jesus.

Closing: Gordan MacDonald, Ordering Your Private World: “Let inward prayer be your last act before you go to sleep at night and your first act when you awake in the morning, and you will find in time as others have, that those who have the wind of the Holy Spirit go forward even while they sleep.”

This is Pastor Paul’s final talk before sabbatical and retirement.

Placing oneself under the Lordship of Jesus (the Kingdom of God in me) means the complete denial of self and a total commitment to Christ. It begins with someone’s pursuit of something valuable—God’s Kingdom. Let us joyfully let go of all competing claims on our lives and make pursuing God and His Kingdom our greatest possession.

    Matthew 13:45-46

We had a technical issue recording this week: the electricity in the church building blipped, and it took several minutes for our equipment to come back online. Apologies for the few minutes of talk that went unrecorded.

The Bible teaches that the motivation to serve others, all others, selflessly is not from duty or guilt, but because of grace. Because of all that God has done for us, and it is all because of His grace, we are not free to pick and choose who we are to treat with kindness and grace. Our relationship with Jesus prompts us to respond to all others as He has responded to us.

Verse: “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

  • Rerun: Living the Bible
    Sep 3 2024

This Sunday, 9/1/24, we gave our tech team the week off and didn't record the service. Enjoy this throwback episode you may have missed when it first released.

The Bible is truthful and reliable. We can believe this but not live it out—the Bible should guide the way we think, act, and live. The way of the Bible is for our and our neighbor’s good— living its ways out leads to life and fullness.

    2 Peter 1:12-20

    Preached by Pastor Paul Sausser.

Isaiah is given a glimpse into the majesty of God up in heaven, and the praise of angels to God because of His holiness. Viewing God as He truly is shouldn’t scare us but lead us into a deeper relationship. This depth is brought about by our confession of sin and God’s abundant grace of forgiveness. This growing relationship of grace should prompt our hearts into a greater desire not just for worship, but for service to God.

Verse: 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

    (Isaiah 6:6-8)

We know we should be more like Mary rather than Martha, and we want to be more like Mary. Of all the dishes to fix in life, the dish of worship is better than the rest. When we gather for worship, it is an expression and growth of the relationship of God and His people. In fact, it can be helpful to think of worship as a mutual pursuit of each other. Like Jesus entered into Mary and Martha’s home, so He comes to meet us too for the purpose of growing together.

    Luke 10:38-42
