Happy close to Women's History Month, listeners! Tara and EmKay dive into the rich history of women's suffrage, led in part by the incredible Matilda Joslyn Gage. Matilda worked closely with Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton in the fight for women's equality, but was unfortunately written out of history due to her radical goal of including ALL women in the fight. On top of all that, she was the mother-in-law of one L. Frank Baum!

Join as Tara and EmKay break down Angelica Shirley Carpenter's biography of Matilda, "Born Criminal," and highlight the amazing Matilda Joslyn Gage Center in Fayetteville, NY.

Stay tuned for an interview with Ciarrai Eaton, Interim Executive Director of the Matilda Joslyn Gage Center, dropping this Wednesday!

The Dreams that you Dream really can come true….

Being a late-long listener is really a treat, because then you can thoroughly enjoy the EFFORT Tara and Em-Kay put into this passion project of theirs. Each interview, each episode is crafted so carefully and meticulously that it’s everything an Oz fan can dream of.

I had the immense pleasure of being on an episode (and YES), they are as kind, sweet & above all, as loving as they can be. Tara and Em-Kay have created a podcast where it feels as if you are sitting there next to them whispering to them exactly what they should say next, they have the feel of feeling like lifelong friends to those who visit their world for the hour the episodes are. Each time I listen, it feels as if I am in a coffee shop just soaking it all in, their cadence & excitement at learning new things about “The Wizard of Oz”, (and other works), make it seem as if we are in on jokes they make at finding out these new discoveries.

If you haven’t listened, then WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? This Yellow-Brick Road just keeps paving new bricks as each episode is released!!! You won’t be disappointed to travel with them as they are Off to see The Wizard!!!!

The ONLY podcast I listen to!

True confession: I’m not really a podcast guy. It’s not personally, the way I learn information most effectively but I’ve definitely made an exception for Down the YBP! As a life-long Oz fanatic and performer/writer, how could I not fall in love with this podcast?! My passion for Oz had some time to reignite during the 2020 lockdowns, and Tara and EmKay came along at just the right time. Now it’s nearly 2023 and I’m stuck at home with the flu—again, the Good Witches of the Concrete Jungle are keeping me entertained and inspired.

I love their deep dives into all things Oz, the good, bad and ugly (looking at you, Oz the Great and Powerful!) They bring humor, insight, humanity, detailed information and unique perspectives to each topic they delve into. I love it all, but particularly loved their episodes delving into each of Baum’s 13 books other than The Wonderful Wizard. It was so fun getting to experience our host’s reactions to these fabulous, sadly, some-what forgotten stories. I also adored their exploration of Return to Oz! Such an underrated film and I love how our hosts shed great light on its remarkable magic! Tara and EmKay also bring terrific guests to most episodes. There is always something interesting to think about during and after each episode! Thank you, both for this gift you’ve given to Oz fans around the world. I also highly recommend being a member of their PodSquad. Though I don’t always participate, I truly enjoy following along with my fellow Oz fans. Happy, happy New Year, Tara and EmKay! Looking forward to continuing down the YBP with you, this upcoming year! :)

Oz Lovers must listen!

As a lifelong Oz fan, I was so excited to stumble across this podcast. I especially love Season 3, which focuses on the books by L. Frank Baum, as the Oz books are the version of Oz I know and loved best. However, this podcast is covers all things Oz from the historic, first reinterations of that fairyland, to the newest things being produced about Oz!

All the episodes are extremely well done - both in terms of performance and quality. They have an engaging banter between both hosts and with whatever guest they have on. Their guests span a huge variety of people that almost always lead me to new discoveries too. They have people who spearhead large Oz related historical projects or clubs, museum curators, creators, actors, authors, and die hard fans as podcast guests). They also bring an unexpected but lovely depth to Oz, both in terms of spirituality and life long lessons as well as historical context. Heck, even their sponsorships seem relevant and on-point for Oz fans.

I'm so glad this exists

I was obsessed with Return to Oz as a child and read all the books waaay back then but have since forgotten almost everything. In October I had COVID and decided to listen to the Oz audiobooks while I was recovering and it rekindled my love. I was so happy to find this podcast.
