excellent story

it's unique and not overly complicated. I love it and hope the author continues the story.

A Diamond in the Rough

There aren't many good dungeon diver books, but this is loads of fun. Additionally the narrator is excellent, which makes it a dramatically more enjoyable experience. The most frustrating aspect is that there is not an option to buy the whole audiobook. Currently we're only 9 episodes in and I would gladly pay for the whole experience now if I had the ability, so the waiting week by week is not my favorite. But I'm enjoying it all the same.

Just tried it on a hunch

The story is great and packed full of action. If you enjoy any form of video games or fighting In books I would say, why not give it a try? I'm only on episode 4 but I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far and it makes the time go by pretty fast.

it is good but I have one problem

The moment he helped the princess get away from the guards, I was annoyed. He always says people should leave for their own safety, talks about how it's dangerous for her to be around him, but then he not only makes himself an enemy of the kings guards and possible the entire kingdom, he completely goes against all the times he said to leave to help her. then you have the stupid kings guards saying he stole the princess despite all the evidence showing that she is in the dungeon willingly... and of course the love interest is a princess, and of course she has the stupid "I am tired of being seen as a child, nevermind the fact that I am the heir to the fking throne and if I die it could possible cause chaos in the kingdom. yep they definitely don't protect me for that reason but because they see me as a child.".. hate that trope

Good story.

I've read the online chapters and was excited to listen to them. MC is novel(to me) and "rational." I like the format of one level per chapter. Narrator's performance is good.

An interesting tale of madness narrated by someone perfect for the job

Now. Something to note right off the bat is that LitRPG and power fantasy have a lot of intersection. Be this through some random amateur kickboxer stumbling into a set of abilities which let her punch ridiculously far above her weight class, an office worker turned Hunter being able to take on the world with a simple bow and arrow, or any other number of books. This is not a power fantasy. Instead it is told from the perspective of someone who has already accepted death and insanity in the hopes of destroying a monster who kills uncountable amounts of people for the simple reason that they’re bored. In the first chapter this is made abundantly clear. The narrator does an excellent job of portraying a Edmund’s(or Ahab’s), slow descent into even further madness. Furthermore his relationship with Liam is extremely interesting and injects much needed interaction that would otherwise reduce the novel to a gritty dungeon crawl. If you want a rather grim but well written and compelling story with a determined and resourceful main character, consider giving this a listen.
