  • Summary

  • Howdy y’all, and welcome to the EEARSS by Alligator Robb Podcast, produced by Terrier TV at Titusville High School!

Season 4, Episode 18 features Jenna Palmisano, a third-year PhD student at the University of Central Florida in Dr. Anna Savage’s Lab. Jenna specializes in the genetic and physiological impacts of emerging pathogens on Florida pygmy rattlesnake (Sistrurus miliarius) populations. Her research focuses on the invasive snake lungworm, Raillietiella orientalis, which has spread due to established invasive species in Florida.

Jenna is the founder of SLAM (Snake Lungworm Alliance and Monitoring), a collaborative research network across the southeastern U.S. She also co-leads an invasive pentastome working group, is a senior co-chair of the national PARC disease task team, and serves as an Associate Editor for the disease section of Herpetological Review.
