-No mi querida, es una casuarina- respondió la madre divertida- Las ponen al borde del río porque sus raíces, como gigantescas manos de madera, sostienen la tierra, así la fuerza del agua no desmorona la costa.
-Pobrecitas, cómo deben sufrir.- se lamentó la nena conmovida.
La mamá la abrazó y respondió con notable ternura:
-No mi amor, no lo creo. Es muy extraño pero mientras salvan la tierra del derrumbe cantan. Basta con una mínima brisa, un susurro de viento, para que empiecen a cantar.
