About this listen

On the occasion of the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, respected royal broadcaster Jennie Bond explores the life of the longest reigning British monarch.

Born a minor royal, Elizabeth is now the most recognisable woman in the world. Admired by many, she has reigned through a period of unprecedented change, keeping the monarchy strong and consistent despite the end of empire, public scandals and private loss.

This newly written history uses actors and eyewitness observation to bring to life the story of this most remarkable woman.

When you add Elizabeth II: Life of a Monarch to your library you will receive all 8 episodes, each with a runtime of approximately 30 minutes.

I have to admit, I only picked this up because it was free on Audible and I was mildly curious. I didn't expect to really be super interested. But this is very well written, produced, and narrated. I found myself swept along in the life of an amazing and all she's experienced and had to weather. Well worth a listen if you have interest in British history and even if you don't.

Surprised me how much I enjoyed it!

Good readers, and story. Background sound effects too loud and distracting, i.e. push button phone, ringing etc.
