About this listen

The Queen is dead, long live the King. On the occasion of Edward Vll’s coronation, we look back at his life as spoilt child, curious adolescent and womanizing princely glutton. There’s a bizarre secret behind those early motion pictures of a new and rotund monarch.

I was hooked right from the start. History is truly brought to life. I am so impressed with the production value. I knew it would be great, but it exceeded my expectations!!

Fascinating look at many aspects of the Edwardian time period. Great for a medium length road trip.

Stephen Fry never disappoints

extreamly interesting and addictive with thought provoking moments that bring history to life I wish history class had been as engaging as these little episodes have been including the victorian secrets Stephen Fry truly has a gift for making history live

enjoyable easy educational listening

This series grabbed me with interest with the opening dialogue. Maybe its because I’m english but I love the wit and the history I’m learning. Impressed that they made an effort to be inclusive and intrigued by how society changed from the Victorian era. Even my daughter was caught up by the beginning narration and agreed it was worth listening to. This is an important point in history as it leads up to the beginning of world war 1 and it explores racism but also does a good job at highlighting accomplishments of people very often overlooked and ignored in history and narrations.

Wonderfully entertaining and informative

Stephen Fry is, as usual, a superb narrator.
I had to abandon this audiobook as some of the historians chosen had extremely irritating voices.

Let down by some irritating historians
