About this listen

The seeds of Putin's rise to power lie in a slightly unusual place: 1990s Moscow where, after 70 years of communism, "gangster capitalism" arrived.

Here we tell the story of how a young graduate student at The Institute of Controlled Sciences became one of the richest men in Russia and the Kremlin's Power Broke - Boris Berezovsky.

I like this podcast. For those who consider themselves to be "Kremlin watchers", it's a lot of the same information as contained in books such as Putin's People, From Russia with Blood, Moneyland, Mr. Putin: Operative in the Kremlin etc.
But I like to corroborate the information I seek out about Putin's 🇷🇺, given the fact that it is a place where disinformation, conspiracy theories & deceptions are hatched and then injected into the populace by Russian intelligence. I definitely recommend all of those books as well as this podcast to every American, and further, every person living in the other Western democracies, too. Putin and his regime have devoted DECADES to making a study of our governments, histories, societies. We must, as a matter of self-defense, do the same, make a careful study of everything about 🇷🇺 and the ruling regime there. Knowing your enemy and all that. Plus, this podcast is a perfect example of how interesting a task that turns out to be. No excuses! It's necessary but I promise, it really doesn't even feel like work.

Excellent

As absorbing and engaging as "McMafia," with tighter focus on Putin. Spooky music is meh.

Misha Glenny knows the Russian power game

This podcast is a good timeline of Putin in power and deals very well superficially with the main happenings but I dislike the continuous accusations that may be true but they are not talked through during the podcast. You can't just say it is a time where everyone can be killed and then not talk about how is that so. Everything is melodramatic but not well explained. In general, I got no substantial knowledge out of this.

Unproven accusations

if really love it if all these were like five hours or had recommendations for further reading on the given subject as the production values are good the sources seems to know their stuff but they're so nebulous...
