Too “Woke”

Couldn’t get through it. Managed to get halfway through episode two. Lost me completely at “freaking white people”. Aren’t we trying to break free of generalizations like that? Isn’t that the entire goal of equal rights?

I really wanted to enjoy this, but it missed the mark.

Political

The storyline was good but the political bull crap was not what I wanted to listen to.

Great , and timely

The voice acting, dialog, and world- building were all so well done. An exceptional feat in this medium and genre. The story is timely, and painfully accurate. It is that painful accuracy that likely accounts for the maligning reviews. This work needs to be shared, and talked about.

Relevant and excellently done!

A really good story and cast! This series is a very clever way to uncover and discuss the racist roots of America, which is often the hidden or denied by myth-making. The diversity of the cast really makes this piece shine because it allows the differing viewpoints to converge and converse. It provides a way into these conversations for those who are actually ready to have them. I love that each episode begins with a teachable moment. For listeners that write this podcast off as “racist,” you’re clearly not ready to have a balanced discourse about racism in America. Maybe search the book “White Fragility” first and then try this again.

review bombing racists

reposting this comment so there's some balance to all the silly review bombing.
irony is when you notice that people who criticise show are exactly the people who are identified as problematic in this play. there are many kinds of racists. some hate people who are different than themselves. but there is another kind of racism, from people who claim that they're not racist, but do not want the racist actions of their ancestors to be mentioned. these are the historical revisionists who protest that people who bring up the past shouldn't because it makes the feel bad about who they are. perhaps it is important that they learn that feeling bad is important. they need to learn where their privilege comes from. you don't have to like this drama. but if you're review bombing this just because it makes you uncomfortable, you've made it clear why we need more works like this.

"you can Google it"

if you don't believe what she said you can Google it.
If it's on the internet so it has to be true, right?

this one informs us how racist all jails are and that the MC was lucky to make it out alive after spending one entire night inside.
