  • Nothing changes if nothing changes… and change is best carried out from the inside out. From a young age, we’ve learned how to cope with stressors in our own unique way. Now, as an adult, those coping mechanisms (thoughts and behaviors) come out automatically… many times producing undesirable behaviors. From stress eating to anxiety, our undesirable and automatic behaviors are a result of what we’ve learned to think and how we’ve learned to behave over time. To change the way we think and behave, we have to start by recognizing and challenging our automatic thoughts. Today, I discuss how to develop new, healthier coping mechanisms, how to identify faulty thinking, and how to overcome and change what thoughts and behaviors are currently automatic and undesired. Change takes intentional and consistent challenging of our thinking… not easy, but not impossible!
