About this listen

Bonnie meets an inspirational figure who was crucial to the Civil Rights movement in the USA. Pauli Murray was an activist, lawyer and poet who broke the mould. She’s the most influential person in the civil rights movement you’ve probably never heard of. As the series draws to a close, Bonnie visits her beloved British Museum to ask what is the legacy of all these untold stories - and how we can reshape our history to tell a richer tale about our world.

Working through my election cycle reading of Wright, Ellison, Baldwin, Malcom and others, I came upon this gem. As we say “Just when I thought I had heard it all”. Bonnie Greer has opened my horizons to entire bodies of work I was not smart enough to find on my own.

As I search for more was to educate myself and expand my knowledge of black history and lean into more black voices, I could not have picked a better podcast to start with. This was powerful and the information I learned was new, fascinating and sometimes hard to hear. This is the history we should be teaching and learning about and I applaud Bonnie Greer for her research and the format in which she presented it here. Highly recommend!
