About this listen

Cindy James was last seen depositing a paycheck in June 1988. Nearly two weeks later, a construction worker discovered her body in a ditch beside a busy road. Police ruled her death a suicide. Her family and friends insisted that she was murdered. In the years leading to her death, Cindy reported more than 100 incidents of stalking. Now the Vancouver community was left to solve this enduring mystery: Had the stalker taken Cindy’s life? Or had there never been a stalker at all?©2021 Shoe Leather Digital, Inc. … love it…it is one of the best podcasts… can’t wait for my long drive to work on Monday to hear the second episode.

One of the best podcasts…

You know going into this that there’s going to be some sadness and some disturbing elements with this podcast… I mean, look at the synopsis. But the story is truly fascinating, and Skybound entertainment, who put it together, handles it with such compassion and intelligence, that you don’t feel as if you’re listening only to a sensational recounting of events. Pamela, the narrator, could not be a more perfect choice to share the story with us – – if you could describe someone’s character by her voice, I would say that she must be a smart, caring, tough and authentic person, or at least that’s absolutely the feeling I got from listening to her. Most interesting to me is that the makers of the podcast ultimately offer us a solution distinct from any other that police or juries came up with, and alternative truly interesting to consider. I would recommend this show to anyone who likes true crime, of course, but also to anybody interested in reading about the mental health climate in the US and Canada in the 1980s, and particularly to anyone interested in how that corresponded with women’s issues at the time. If anyone out there at Audible is reading this, I hope you will contract with Skybound entertainment again!

Compulsively wonderful, the whole podcast is a great listen!

I was relaxing ... I know crazy to relax listing to a crime story... but when the drum beat happens throughout the story... it is a big no from me. I already have anxiety don't need to increase it...

SCORE FOR MUSIC zero. had anxiety w/drum beats

In this episode the narrator says “there is one conclusion we found most compelling” and then plays a clip of someone saying the protagonist was murdered. This is false advertising, they actually firmly come to the opposite conclusion. I kept listening to whole series waiting for the twist that never came. This was a huge waste of my time and I would have quit halfway through but for that false promise in episode 1. Audible, I am very disappointed that you would approve false advertising in an original program

Please don’t waste your time like I did (contains spoilers)
