About this listen

Dr Jane Goodall DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) and UN Messenger of Peace, first arrived on the shores of Gombe in Tanzania on 14th July 1960. Her groundbreaking studies into the lives of wild chimpanzee communities changed our understanding of our relationship to the rest of the animal kingdom. In the decades since, Jane has become a beacon of hope for nature. Her ongoing work with chimpanzees through JGI has resulted in their continued protection and care in the wild, and in sanctuary settings. Today, at 91 years of age, Jane travels approximately 300 days per year, inspiring audiences worldwide through speaking tours, media engagements, written publications, and a wide array of film, television and podcast projects.

Jane joins the Burundi to Gombe podcast in Episode 10, the final episode of the series. Jane speaks about the early days in Gombe, her ongoing connection to chimpanzees, and about her hope for the future.
