About this listen
In the fall of 1982 police cars would begin slowly driving down the streets of Chicago's suburbs blaring “Do not take any Tylenol until further notice”. The events that led to the warning had millions of Americans fearful.
It began on September 29th 1982, when 12 year old Mary Kellerman took a Tylenol for a head hold. Shortly after she would collapse on the bathroom floor, be hospitalized and die.
That same day less than 10 miles away from the Kellerman home, a 27 year old postal worker Adam Janus would take two Tylenol Capsules, he too would collapse, end up in hospital and die.
