Awesome job!

This was a great listen! I loved hearing the history behind the music. I didn't realize there were so many artists that launched around the same time. it was great to get an inside perspective. Each episode kept me tuned in and looking forward to the next one. I binged listened to this in 1 day! Lol. I thought it was put together very well.

This was such a treat!

Learned a lot. I had to keep stopping the audible to go listen to the different artist mentioned, Will Smith a goat for this one. Didn’t realize 88 did so much! Loved it

Superb

Will shoes a love for hip hop that shines throughout. You don’t just hear the stories, you see them, and for us fortunate who lived it…

A Beautiful Look Back

I was thirteen years old in 1985, the year I heard ‘La Di Da Di’. It wasp the first rap track I connected with and it helped condition me for what would become known as rap’s golden era. It is impossible to overstate the impact of RUN D.M.C.’s ‘Walk This Way’ and its invitation to white audiences not be afraid to enjoy this music. I knew I was hooked for good the first time I heard ‘Bring the Noize’ by Public Enemy and that would be just the beginning of a thirty five year journey through hip hop. My generation was the first to consume hip hop as popular music and had a front row seat to its world domination. This series touches on every important moment between rap being a hyper-local craze and becoming a global sensation. It’s great to hear these stories from the people who were there!

Will ability to story tell

After hearing the story and its ability to take me back, I hate for it to end

Another season, please!

My husband and I listened on a road trip. We don’t often find something we both enjoy, but this was it. It was like reliving our youth with the addition of the historical context and personalized stories. At the end of the podcast, we were wanting more storytelling, more music, and more seasons. Excellent.
