• #6 | The Foolishness of God: Many Christians Already Embrace the Antichrist Agenda
    Oct 30 2024

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION

This is the first episode in our new series, "The Foolishness of God: The End Times." The term "foolishness of God" comes from St. Paul, who said "the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men" (1 Cor. 1:25). He was speaking about the Passion of Our Lord, which the Church teaches is a type of the end times Passion of the Church (see the Catholic Catechism, paragraphs 675-77).

In this first introductory installment, we'll discuss the Antichrist Agenda as outlined by the famous 19th century protestant convert, St. John Henry Newman, and how most Christians have already accepted many parts of it.

  • #5 | Setting the Record Straight: Reformation Era Pope Repents, and Warns of Luther's Errors
    Oct 16 2024

CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION

This is the first episode in our new series, "Setting the Record Straight: The Truth vs. Anti-Catholic Myths," in which we will refute various anti-Catholic myths, and share eye-opening accounts that paint an entirely different picture of the Catholic Church than we are often given.

In this first installment, we cover a largely unknown story of a Pope who not only repented of the sins of priests and Popes at the very beginning of the protestant "reformation," but also provided a stunningly accurate and prophetic warning about where Luther's errors would lead. When I first heard this story as a protestant, I was shocked. I never knew a Catholic Pope, amidst the heat of the "reformation," had shown such transparent humility. It showed me a side of the Catholic Church I never knew, and was certainly never told about. In addition, the Pope's warnings about where Luther's principles would lead rang uncomfortably true with my experience as a protestant.

This story will help refute two comment protestant assertions: that the Catholic Church was unrepentantly corrupt, and that Luther's principles were an attempt at "reform" rather than a revolution.

  • #3 | Papal Snapshot: Pagan Historian Acknowledges Papal Authority (mid 300s)
    Aug 5 2024

“CULTIVATING SAINTS, SAGES, AND STATESMEN THROUGH THE GREAT TRADITION”

    EPISODE SUMMARY

In this episode, our founder Joshua Charles inaugurates a new “mini-series” called “Papal Snapshots.” Each Papal Snapshot will examine one story, document, or quote from the ancient Church, and unpack what it reveals about the nature and extent of papal authority.

This first Papal Snapshot covers the remarkable acknowledgement of papal authority in the mid-300s by an ancient pagan historian, Ammianus Marcellinus. His account not only mentions the higher authority of the Pope without further comment, but discusses the acknowledgement of this authority by the Roman Emperor Constantius as well in the midst of the Arian crisis.

  • #2 | No One in Scripture Interpreted it on Their Own
    Jul 8 2024

In this episode, our founder Joshua Charles recounts how, in order to solve “my unsolvable dilemma as a protestant” (see Episode #1), he went to Scripture to see how doctrinal disputes were resolved. In the process, he discovered a disturbing fact: no one in Scripture interpreted it on their own.

In other words, no one in Scripture was doing what he thought was normative Christian practice as a protestant. On the contrary, everyone was under apostolic authority: the authority of the Apostles themselves, or those they had appointed. Outside this line of authority, no one was empowered to interpret Scripture on their own.

Despite the fact that his conversion to the Catholic Faith was still years away, Joshua realized even then that what he was seeing in Scripture was simply not compatible with protestantism (or at the very least, most forms of it).

  • #1 | My Unsolvable Dilemma as a protestant
    May 13 2024

IN THIS FIRST EPISODE of the Eternal Christendom podcast—the first of our Five Masterpieces—our founder Joshua Charles recounts one of the biggest dilemmas he had as a protestant by reflecting on Christ’s words: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15).

He wanted to love Jesus, and thus obey His commandments. But many people around him frequently had different opinions on just what those commandments were. Often, their opinions were the exact opposites of one another.

To make matters worse, the prominent teachers (both historical and contemporary) and mentors he consulted were often virtuous, well-educated, and acting in good faith.

So his dilemma became: how do I know what Christ actually commanded? How do I know what is true beyond mere opinion?

We hope you are inspired and edified. Please consider joining us in this labor of love for Christ and His Church. In the midst of our darkening world, help us preserve and revive the Great Tradition of Christendom by building something beautiful and enduring for future generations.

  • The Great Rosary Campaign, Week 4: Senator JD Vance
    Oct 27 2024

In these dark times, we must fight evil with the most powerful weapons we have.

The Rosary is foremost among them. Join the Great Rosary Campaign today at: www.GreatRosaryCampaign.com.

The Great Rosary Campaign is a yearlong mission for the conversion of cultural leaders. We will announce a weekly call to pray every Sunday for specific fallen-away Catholics and non-Catholics.

THIS WEEK, the second week of the Great Rosary Campaign, we are praying for Senator JD Vance and his family.

The SUGGESTED PENANCE this week is spending time in Adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist.

Countless Saints and Popes have told us that the Rosary is incredibly powerful for three things in particular:

    1. Keeping the Faith

    2. Moral renovation

    3. Conversions of non-Catholics

The Great Rosary Campaign is also based on several biblical themes and principles.

First, PRAY FOR OUR BRETHREN. “Pray for one another…” (Jas. 5:16). “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" (Gal. 6:10).

Second, PRAY FOR OUR ENEMIES. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven" (Matt. 5:43-44).

Third, PRAY FOR ALL MEN, PARTICULARLY LEADERS AND THOSE IN AUTHORITY. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, or kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Tim. 2:1-2).

Fourth, GOING INTO BATTLE WITH THE ARK. When the ancient Israelites came to Jericho, God didn't tell them to besiege the city. Instead, He told them to march around it with the Ark of the Covenant seven times, and on the seventh the walls would fall. We will now "march" in prayer for seven days with the New Ark of the Covenant, Our Lady, through the Rosary. We pray in hope that on the seventh day, a day especially devoted to Our Lady (Saturday), extraordinary graces of conversion will be given to those we are praying for.

Fifth, EVANGELISM AND APOLOGETICS = LOVE + ARGUMENTS + PRAYER + PENANCE. Ultimately it is God who reveals Himself to a soul, and empowers them to say "yes" to Him by His grace. He chooses to use us, but He does not have to. We must remember that as we evangelize and defend the Faith, our arguments will be fruitless unless informed by love (charity), and reinforced by prayer and penance.

Sixth, RETURNING GOOD FOR EVIL. “Do not return evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing" (1 Pet. 3:9).
