 In November 2003 I moved abroad for the first time to teach English in Taiwan. The culture was so different that I wrote a blog called Me In Taiwan to process what I was seeing and experiencing. Since then I have spent the majority of my time living and working overseas in many countries in Asia but also some in Latin America too. But nothing has had the impact on me like this first expat year in Taiwan. So in 2017 I started podcasting by reading and reflecting on these blog entries, one entry at a time. When I started this podcast I was living in Shanghai, China and that is where the first 60 episodes were recorded. The podcast grew into other podcasts (now under the Geopats Podcast Network) and I stopped recording these blog rereading episodes. But when I moved to Berlin, Germany in 2020, I started to think about that first year in Taiwan again and pondered continuing this podcast. But then the pandemic hit and life got hectic, to say the least. Now that I am on the verge of leaving Germany for a new country, I think the timing is finally right to continue this project.
